I don't remember how this book ended up on my list, but I'm glad it did. Rather different from my usual fictional reads (...I don't think I remember the last time I've read something set pre-1900s, if we're not counting the Bible intermissions, ha), but Wash has a fine point of view, and I enjoyed following him through so many different atmospheres and parts of the world, and especially his connections with Big Kit, Titch, and Tanya.
Other Media
A little over an hour way from getting caught up on Critical Role, I am, and I've already spilled some thoughts. I think I continue to be in happy disbelief regarding everything about Beauregard.
I'm on *switches tabs * page 6885 of Homestuck. It has been a fun riot, and yet I'm glad I'm reading it exactly when I am. I can see plenty that would have put me off if I was following it as it updated, or that would have been dealbreakers for a younger me, but now I can just brush aside the few parts I don't like and I enjoy the whole thing is. I have so many faves and several ships, I'm going to read so much fic once I'm done :D
Writing
Have some TSCOSI and some Critical Role ficlets, I guess. I wrote Dragon Age fic for the first time for Trick or Treat, which was a nice time, because Purple Hawke.
It has been an interesting experience writing as much fic for exchanges as I have in the past year (I think I might be at like > 6 fics across accounts), with writing fic I've really wanted to write for a while and also fic that could have turned out better. I'm psyched about this year's Yuletide assignment too, and there's a treat I really want to write. But I think after that it'll be time for a break from exchange sign-ups. Too many ideas on the back-burner I'd like to actually use.

Date: 2019-11-19 06:33 pm (UTC)I'm lowkey impressed by you reading Homestuck and watching Crit Role at the same time? Like, I can do long-form media, but usually just one thing at a time. Anything else I pick up during that time has to be relatively short. Like, right now, I'm reading Les Mis and two <1k pg books.
Thanks for reminding me that I need to go back to the eye doctor, lol. I haven't been in so long that my eye doctor has actually switched practices.
Solo vacation sounds cool! Where are you planning on going?

Date: 2019-11-19 08:00 pm (UTC)With CritRole and Homestuck I think the different format and fandom aspects have been very helpful. I can catch up with the former via the podcast version at 1.5x speed, and with the latter, I get to dish out my feels on the latest chunk I've consumed at a regular pace.
I don't think I could do two very long books at the same time. How's Les Mis going? All I know about the book is that it's 1. very long 2. has a lot of detours in description.
I'm going to Philly and DC, with most of my time in DC.

Date: 2019-11-20 05:06 am (UTC)Les Mis is going.. well in the sense that I'm enjoying it, I like his rambling style, but I really need to let go of the pride I normally take in finishing a book in a day to a week and accept that this is not going to be that book.
Philly/DC's the way to go I think, as far as a trip from NYC goes when you don't have a car. Rebecca and Isaac are from the Maryland/DC area, so they will almost definitely have recs tomorrow for stuff to do if you need them. :D
