The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin

Started reading this while I was in Philadelphia, because it seemed appropriate. A pretty short read - dude stops before the revolution, AKA the most exciting part of his life, so it's about how he got into the printing business and also became an important dude in the public sphere.

There is an early interlude where the Pennsylvania governor or someone is like "you, young printing apprentice, go to England and take this letter to my contacts so they'll sell you stuff to setup your own printing stuff here", only when Franklin reaches England, turns out the governor's contacts don't exist, so he just works there for a few years and randomly decides to return whenever. I suppose you could just do that back then.

The Good Place

I loved getting Chidi's flashbacks about his parents and childhood. Made a lot of sense. I continue having mixed feelings about the romance, but I've already gone on about that and have a talking meme post queued up for it, so I won't belabor that. I'm curious to see what the endgame of this show looks like. Are we actually going to get a better point system? Will we concede that probably no one needs to get tortured for eternity?

Homestuck

I imagine if that I had been reading Homestuck while it was updating, I would have developed something akin to expectations. Since I was mainlining it over the course of two months, I didn't and would instead be pleasantly surprised at times. Even the ending and credits that left a lot of things open was fine by me. I have a fair number of fave characters and ships, and am in the middle of reading a lot of fic before I subject myself to...whatever the epilogues are.

(Side-note: I swear I've reblogged this post a long time ago without realizing it was Homestuck-related, and now I just wonder what other similar realizations I am going to have.)

Critical Role

Yasha's back!! They got an ugly motherfucker to kill for a second time but I am so ready for all the angst-ridden RP. I am already grateful for Yasha healing Beau right where she stabbed her unconscious, and I want to know if Yasha remembers anything Oban-related about her time before the circus. But really, I'm just ready to see what Yasha's dynamic with everyone looks like now that she's here to stay.
