The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin, translated by Ken Liu

This was a meh one. I felt distant from most of the characters in a way I couldn't put my finger on. The police guy felt the most like a real person to me. I got more into the book towards the end, because there was a humanity narrative I could get behind, so I'll probably get around to reading the rest of this trilogy at some point. I did like how the book started with what happens to Ye Wenjie's father in the context it did.

Yes, I am enough a nerd that the simple connection between the title and the Trisolarian homeworld made me pretty content when revealed. Unfortunately satisfying moments of that kind were rare, and I need more of them in my sci-fi if I'm not that attached to the characters.
