December Talking Meme: Day 7

Prompt: anything you would like to say on the topic of Ace Attorney (the good, the bad, the goofy headcanons, fave moments, whatEVER you would like lol)! (via queenlua)

Hell yeah let's do a scattershot array of thoughts. Background is that I've played up to halfway through the Professor Layton crossover in the AA series. (It is taking me a while because it is...not that compelling, but I refuse to quit on principle.)

Good

• Must appreciate that the priorities are gay lawyers and messed up sibling relationships, those are correct priorities and I hope there is still more of this left in the series for me to encounter
• Every weird girl assistant I've seen so far, very good friendos
• Edgeworth is a top-tier character (Bless the Investigations series for even more insight into this weird dude.)
• I played T&T years after finishing the first two games and my initial thoughts were: Phoenix is both so much smarter and so much stupider than I remembered, and this has remained true
• Love that these games inspired the case-writing in S1 of the Juno Steel series of The Penumbra Podcast. Possibly I just love mysteries.
• The sprite animations

Bad

• The occasional creepy old men/perverts joke...bad...
• When I am driven insane by what piece of evidence to present and thus resort to a guide
• Ok specifically the time Klavier gave me music homework and I couldn't hear a difference between any of the options
• Badgood is how long these games are because I enjoy the content but multiple times I've stayed up late to finish a last case because I just did not want to stop
• I am a weenie who finds neither the whipping jokes nor the jokes about Gumshoe's salary getting cut funny

Goofy (or not) headcanons

• Multiple people know forever that Edgeworth is wearing a jabot and not a cravat but no wants to bring the wrath of the demon prosecutor/this high-ranking guy down upon them and so one day he's definitely going to embarrass himself in front of someone who doesn't have compunctions about that.
• Ema postpones visiting Lana in prison after returning to Japanifornia because she's embarrassed of failing the forensic scientist exam
• Edgeworth has gotten trapped in stairwells multiple times because of his aversion to elevators.
• This is a dream Apollo has shortly after AA4 and he is bewildered. He has never thought about wrestling before in his life.

• "Unnecessary feelings" duh
• Interrogating a fucking parrot
• Mia coming back just to tell Dahlia she'll never win. Epic. Also that T&T reveals Mia is just constantly thinking about beating people up LOL.
• The reveal of what Lana Skye had been hiding SL-9; gotta love an unhinged older sibling
• That logic chess scene in AAI2 with Sebastian
