jaggedwolf'tis once more the season of the King William's College quiz. Between that and a discovery of the gameshow Only Connect, I get to learn a bunch of random British trivia.
Encanto
Cute movie, liked the variety of the family powers and was naturally was a fan of the LMM-written songs with particular fondness for the opening one, Surface Pressure, and We Don't Talk About Bruno.
West Side Story
Glad I saw this one on the big screen. The rumble scene was my favourite of the film, which I didn't expect, as I have no memory at all of it in the 1961 film. In this version the violent tension kept me on the edge of my seat. Anita was amazing, obvious standout, and I thought the actor for Riff was so good at portraying that rage and danger. Liked this take on Anybodys. (Tony and Maria were tolerable enough, which is y'know, the most one can expect from West Side Story.)
Portal
Some fun portal puzzling, and only made me slightly queasy from the momentum jumps. Despite all the memetic osmosis of the game, I hadn't expected the little lairs/hideouts with writing on the walls, or that "the cake is a lie" would be repeatedly scribbled along the escape path, not ever actually uttered. Kinda think the ending patch to make it flow better into Portal 2 wasn't necessary, and takes away that end-game sense of accomplishment.
Arcane
Made a vid for Vi to Encanto's Surface Pressure, because the lyrics fit her entirely too well. I'd never made a vid before, and this was a fun time! Also a fine excuse to rewatch some excellent fight scenes.
