Hmm, what's a favorite f/f ship I haven't bleated on about endlessly yet...oh, how about F!Hawke/Isabela from Dragon Age 2? They're so good and were such a surprise when I first played the game. I love playing a purple sad clown of a Hawke who is stuck saving the day but is going to make absolutely the worst jokes while doing so, and I love the path of Isabela the self-interested pirate gaining some friends and also Hawke, against her better instincts, and they are both so fond of each other's ridiculousness.

While I can see the appeal of the rivalry path there's something very fun about the friendship path where Hawke almost never contradicts Isabela's self-description even when she disagrees, but it changes over the years anyway, because that's what hanging out around Hawke does. ~Them Bioware protagonist powers~

You see this most clearly in a tiny nuance of their first conversation in Act 3. Isabela describes herself as a "lying, cheating snake". If you say she isn't, you gain rivalry points with her. The only way to gain friendship points is for Hawke to instead say "whatever you are, you're still my friend". What a terrifying promise of stability. For Isabela, I think, it almost feels like a threat. Yet she sticks around anyway.

Bonus under the cut, just me rambling about f/f ships in 2023 I liked

Black Sails: Max and Anne's scene on the bench in the snow was very good and I'm glad they got to stick together even if piracy is ultimately doomed and all

The Last of Us (TV): The Ellie/Riley episode was so well-done, gah

NCIS: Hawai'i: The dead navy sailors procedural continues to having a lesbian romcom in its B-plots, A+, no notes, can't wait to see what else they'll get up to now that they've u-hauled and also lied to each other about going on a sketchy mission with the other's boss.

A League of Their Own: Enjoyed watching Carson and Greta be assholes to each other in between being together lmao

Stray Gods: Both of Grace's female romance options are excellent, though I ended up leaning towards Freddie because of how unhinged the plot can make her and Grace about each other.

Deadloch: Dulcie Collins and Eddie Redcliffe are the initially antagonistic eventually partners buddy cop ship I did not know I'd get out of this show, I love them and wish there was more fic.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles: When I finished the first game, my first thought was that Susato and Gina should kiss. I stand by this thought.

Oh no, that was merely bad phrasing on my part. Only one of them did this. The ship is Lucy/Kate, Lucy is part of the core NCIS team which is headed by Jane, while Kate works for the FBI. In the season finale, Jane wanted to go investigate something in Venezuela without risking her subordinates, and she hit up Kate to go with her, who only told Lucy once they were already in Venezuela. At some point this leads to Jane handcuffing Kate to a kitchen while Lucy is very cross on the phone about Kate getting herself handcuffed.

You know, normal procedural plots.
