Figured trying to post more regularly would be a good motivator to actually keep track of media consumption and my writing - we'll see how that goes. Also, shilling comms now that Dreamwidth's getting more activity.

There's a She-Ra comm over at thehonorofgrayskull. It also looks like the criticalrole comm has also gotten more active this past week and I'm looking forward to it - I like places for centralized discussion of the eps, but going to Reddit too often makes me far too annoyed.

Reading

Finally finished Grant by Ron Chernow. Picked it up on the library purely on a whim since it's the same author as the Hamilton biography (yep that biography which inspired LMM to write the musical), and it was a great read - I barely knew anything about Grant or the Civil War, so it was like a firehose of information. Made me add two different Lincoln biographies to my someday reading list. Also made me wonder how Grant could get scammed so many times without learning anything.

Read The Sidekicks by Will Kostakis. Pretty meh overall - I love YA of the mundane high school shenanigans but it all felt far too scattered for me to feel very much, and I kept expecting the book to dig deeper into Isaac's death. (Not a spoiler, it's what kicks the book off.)

Watched

Enjoyed the Crazy-Ex Girlfriend episode way more than The Good Place episode. CEG's definitely lost some steam in its final season but it seems to fit with the mood of the show - I am very curious to how the finale occurring on Valentine's Day is going to go. Probably need to expect less emotional consistency from the TGP, honestly, and treat it as more of the fun ride it is.

Writing

Done with a draft of my Yuletide assignment and nearly done with a dialogue-only version of a treat I'm considering. Wrote a couple of TSCOSI ficlets on Tumblr. Think I've really underestimated how much writing tiny ficlets has helped me with writing overall, honestly.

I don't really read Voltron fic, but I stumbled across an academia au entirely from Pidge's tired post-doc perspective and was utterly delighted.

secretsofluftnarp continues to charm with their Raymond/Kevin (B99) fics - they just posted a fic that tackles the seeming contradiction of Holt describing Kevin's parents as relentless homphobes and Holt & Kevin visiting them for Thanksgiving.
