A bunch of nerdy-ass voice actors sit around playing Dungeons and Dragons. The campaign 2 playlist is here. I love how much of a disaster crew the Nein is, and all of the guest PCs. Feel free to include anything from the latest episodes by the time of the deadline, I stay caught up with the show.

Beauregard

Ships I enjoy for her: Beau/Jester, Beau/Yasha, Beau/Keg, Beau/Dairon, Beau/Jester/Yasha Beau/literally any adult woman

I adore this blunt monk so much. She's constantly ready to fight, but incapable of letting any question unanswered and very ready to put herself in danger for the Nein. A very good candidate for getting whumped. She's smarter and kinder than she gives herself credit for, and it delights me that she's already had two guest PCs fall for her.

Prompts

• Having a good time dressing up for whatever Wildemount's version of Halloween might be
• Training with Dairon - could be in fighting, could be in spycraft
• She's the the only one of the Mighty Nein incapable of using magic. I'd love to see a darker take on that, where something magic attacks the group that the rest of them easily able to fend off while she's left defenseless.
• A run-in with her family that doesn't go well :(
• Beau doesn't really fall apart in a way that destabilizes the Nein, she's usually the one checking after people these days. What if she did? Is she defensive, pretending that everything's alright?
• Far in the future and happy with who she is. What does that look like for Beau?
• Beau sleeping with someone she shouldn't have

Jester

Ships I enjoy for her: Beau/Jester, Jester/Yasha, Beau/Jester/Yasha

Jester is light and flippant a lot of them time in an effort to make the others and herself feel better, but sometimes seems surprised by her own sadness, or unwilling to show it to the others. I think a lot about her conversation with Beau on the ship, and the promise in their conversation about Beau one day getting to see Jester be fully angry.

Prompts

• Jester and TravelerCon! Is it a trap? Is it genuinely a good time where Jester gets to meet other followers? Does she have all kinds of messy feelings about possibly not being the number 1 Traveler gal?
• Jester pulling off a prank with her latest abilities
• She's the only who can scry on Yasha in her current state. How often does Jester do that, what does she see, does she always tell the others, or perhaps only some of them?
• The Traveler tricking her into hurting one of her friends, and Jester dealing with the fallout
• Jester's complicated feelings (about the Iron Shepards, about her mom, about everything that's happened), finally bursting out in one big mess
• Beau-Jester roommate times!

When it comes to Beau/Jester, make such a good team, and are so constantly delighted with each other. There's something very sweet about the way Beau always tries to look out for Jester and is softer with her than anyone else, and how Jester tries to say nice things about Beau when she notices she's feeling down and says "if [Beau] trusts Dairon, we trust her". Here are some shippy prompts for them, if you'd like.

Prompts

• Fight club! These two have such fun getting into fights, against other people or with each other. Sparring turned into kissing?
• Angst with comfort - Beau dealing with her family and things going badly? Jester having the Traveller betray her in some way? How does the other help?
• Getting together fic with some pining. Beau obviously thinks Jester is into Fjord. Jester notices that Beau flirts with literally every woman they meet, but not Jester herself.

Haikyuu

An excellent sports anime/manga about the Karasuno High volleyball team, that are now the underdogs even though years ago they were one of the best around.

I am very fond of all these volleyball boys, but especially the Karasuno kids. Love'em playing games, love'em talking strategy, love'em walking back from the convenience store and talking, etc. I'm up to date on the anime, but only just past the twins manga-wise.

As you might tell from my requested characters, I'm interested in fic about the characters who don't have genius-level skill, or freakish physical ability on their side, whose contribution to the team is their spirit, their determination, and the simple fact that they keep showing up.

Sawamura Daichi

Ships I enjoy for him: Daichi/Suga, and honestly you could probably convince me of Daichi/any Karasuno dude

He's such a good captain, bringing steadiness and focus to the team, to the point that when he's injured the team panics a little.

Prompts

• Something from when he, Suga and Asahi were first-years
• Graduated and watching Karasuno play from the stands for the first time, how does he feel?
• Any non-mundane AU where he's still in charge of all these disastrous boys

Tanaka Ryuunosuke

Ships I enjoy for him: Tanaka/Ennoshita, and again, I could probably buy Tanaka/any Karasuno dude if you convinced me

He comes off as so aggro (and he is, a little bit), but he's such a good kid at heart. I love how when a team tries to target him, he keeps his head and thinks "maybe I'm mediocre but so what". He keeps everyone's spirits up by being himself <3

Prompts

• Anything about the time he was the only second-year who kept showing up.
• When he's a third-year and the ace, what are things like?
• Him and his sister! It seemed like they live together and alone, so what's the story behind that?
• Non-mundane AUs where he plays a similar role for the team in a completely different scenario.

Canon-specific DNW: Arkady wearing a dress

A space opera podcast about the crew of a small smuggling ship finding themselves unraveling a government conspiracy. Found family feels, romance and purple aliens abound - I've also heard people describe it as "Firefly but with queer and Asian characters", but I've never seen Firefly myself. It recently finished its first season of 10 ~35 minute long episodes, accessible wherever one can find podcasts. The transcripts for the first eight episodes can be found here, with the ones for the last two episodes here and here.

There's no one in the cast I wouldn't enjoy seeing one of these guys bounce off of, there's so much potential in any dynamic. Some of my suggested ships here involve characters in canonical relationships (Violet/Arkady or Brian/Krejjh) - I'd prefer any option of handling it other than a breakup or cheating: they could have never gotten together in the first place, the other party could never be mentioned in the fic, the canonical relationship could be still happening and everyone's cool with the ship also happening.

This is also canon I'd be down to read canon-divergent fic for - in what other ways could these characters have met?

Violet Liu
Ships I'd be down to see: Violet/Arkady, Violet/Sana, Violet/Arkady/Sana, Violet/Krejjh

I love how Violet keeps pressing through sincerely all this chaos that's been upending her life, as anxious as she is about it, and love her slowly coming to feel at home with the crew. She's startlingly perceptive and direct about it too, which is always fun to see another character deal with.

Prompts

• Violet helping Park and McCabe adjust to life on the run, the differences in their experiences under the IGR and perhaps the differences in how they're coping
• Violet/Arkady taking those first few awkward stumbly steps into a relationship after that S1 finale, trapped on the ship as they are and as prone to miscommunication
• Anything at all revealing some way in which Violet hasn't adjusted to life on the Rumor, free from the IGR - some ordinary thing she sees as a kindness, some reflexive reaction - and the rest of the crew responding to that. She might not even think it odd till one of them comments on it.
• Violet getting interested in Dwarnian biology, and bugging a not-very-helpful Krejjh about it. Studying their biology as a good way of being less irrationally scared of those purple aliens?

Arkady Patel
Ships I'd be down to see: Violet/Arkady, Arkady/Sana, Violet/Arkady/Sana, Arkady/Krejjh

• Arkady getting hurt to make one of the others talk is always a good time, especially if she's making sure it's her and no one else getting hurt
• Violet/Arkady taking those first few awkward stumbly steps into a relationship after that S1 finale, trapped on the ship as they are and as prone to miscommunication
• Takes on her time on Cresswin, during the war, as an IGR guard or even when it was just her and Sana on the ship
• Arkady and Krejjh running into each other during the war
• Arkady being annoyed at how now Violet and Sana like to team up against her in arguments (over how much rest her injuries require, etc.) and finding this all very unfair

Sana Tripathi
Ships I'd be down to see: Violet/Sana, Arkady/Sana, Violet/Arkady/Sana, Sana/Park

• Sana is warm and open, but always in a way that's about the crew's feelings, rarely her personal ones. I'd love a look into what those feelings might be, or someone figuring out what those are (Violet/Arkady might be good options here)
• Some subset of the crew taking care of Sana for once, instead of the other way around :D
• Exploring Sana's side of the Sana-Arkady loyalty dynamic - she has to know that Arkady would die for her, and that's awful, but she's still pragmatic to her core. There's that underlying tension in their relationship, that relying on Arkady the way she does might be too much to ask for, but relying on Arkady's one of the best options to keep them all safe.
• Park seems the closest to Sana's age. They took very different paths with regards to the IGR, have rather different personalities, and so I'd love to see them bounce off each other. (I find it very endearing that Park finds Sana's "Lenny" joke funny. On that note - please don't make Park's actual name Lenny/Leonard if he appears in this fic.)
• Sana and General Frederick meeting. Such different leadership styles, really.
• Sana thinking of Violet as another crew member to look out for, and getting surprised by Violet looking out for her in some way

The Penumbra Podcast

The Juno Steel series of this podcast is about P.I Juno Steel, who deals with both homme fatales and femme fatales distracting him. It also takes place on Mars.

So much good sci-fi tropes! Lots of whump! (Yes, I know Second Citadel is fantasy, but I just started that one and will thus unfortunately not be requesting those characters.)

Juno Steel

Ships I enjoy for him: Juno/Peter

The best sad boy. He's had to remake himself so many times, he always thinks things are his fault even when it's astonishingly self-centred of him to do so, he's sarcastic and gruff and loving and better equipped to deal with an ugly death than the hope of life. I adore his partnership with Rita, his friendship and history with Sasha and Mick, his would-be romance with Peter. All good things to explore.

The new season starts early Oct, and I will be caught up with the show throughout. Feel free to incorporate anything from there if you so choose, and feel equally free to not.

Prompts

• The awful aftermath of Benzaiten's death - in what ill-advised ways did Juno cope with that?
• Juno as a kid growing up in Oldtown, hanging out with his friends and his brother
• Adjusting to life on a spaceship, per that S2 ending. It sure sounded like he'd never left Mars before, so that could be interesting. What does he like about it? What does he hate about it? (What does his company on said ship have to do with said feelings?)
