In no particular order,

• Dance Of The Flaming Arseholes
• I've been reading Romance Of The Three Kingdoms and at one point a dude eats his own eyeball. No one makes him do it, he just does it.
• NYC's government structure was completely different before 1989 with the City Council basically doing nothing of fundamental importance
• So many parts of this book about the OSS, the precursor to the CIA.

A judge came over to their table. “Hi, boss,” the judge said to Esposito. The county leader explained that the reporter was doing an article on him.

“Is he going to do right by you?” the judge asked.

“If he doesn’t,” Esposito responded, “I’ll break his ankles.” (Esposito was convicted in 1987 for buying off a congressman.)

I forgot about your Assessment of Men excerpts but I'm delighted they made the list; those were so funny. Interesting too (I keep thinking about the dudes quitting before the rp challenge) but oh my god.
