The Tumblr purge has began, so I suppose we'll all see if there are any lasting effects there. I've been stuck at home sick the past four days, so mostly been rereading fic and playing video games. But before that...

A Series Of Things I Adored About Episode 9 of The Strange Case of Starship Iris

• I'm already attached to Other Violet and Thasia. In particular, I love other Violet's grim pragmatism that isn't her being an asshole for no reason, how that clashes a little with Arkady's similar attitude, the way that shell of hers cracks a little when Craddock's death or Thasia's torture is brought up, the way that story of her giving advice to Violet as an RA is kind of a microcosm of who she is.
• "You're the real Violet!" & "You're a badass", anyone? Arkady is such a goner for protag Violet already and will probably be in denial about it forever, I continue to adore this.
• All of the crew's arguments about which plan to go with - Brian's existential crisis; Violet's sudden, quiet determination to do something for once in her life; Arkady demanding more out of her life than the shitty path she's seen; Krejjh's sense of moral obligation to not do nothing to stop millions from dying in another pointless war; Sana, knowing her choice, but as always waiting as the Captain to let everyone have their say first. I am so attached to this crew y'all and while I hope nothing bad happens to them in the finale, I also deeply look forward to terrible things happening to them
• Thasia and Krejjh's very tentative conversation about Ferin and penpals ;_;
• The crew being as rude as possible to the agents listening to them as possible, complete with false crimes and drunken singing. I am going to appreciate Drunk!Sana rambling about impersonations forever, thank you show.

Some things I didn't

• My one hope for S2 is a regular release schedule, haha. Like, I love the randomness, but the waits are soooo loong
• For the life of me I could not tell apart other Violet and Thasia's voices at all this episode, so I kept consulting the transcript. I'm hoping it'll be easier on a re-listen, because otherwise my obsession with relistening to TSCOSI is going to get pretty annoying.

Spider-Man

It was a pretty fun game overall - nothing like swinging around Manhattan, listening to J. Jonah Jameson rag on you on the radio to make you feel like Spider-Man. Mostly I'm disappointed that they killed off Aunt May, because that seemed exceedingly unnecessary in the ringer Peter was put through - also, there was zero tension in that scene with the anti-serum because we all know Spider-Man's gonna do the right thing. He's not a morally complicated guy. Probably won't be playing the sequels or any of the DLC.

Fic I've been re-reading

I've been very slowly been going through maybe i'm waking up by idrilka again - I haven't read much Check Please fic, but this is such a long, cozy Jack/Bitty fic that I end up going back to it fairly often.

I re-watched a couple of episodes of Haikyuu S2 and ended up hunting down old reads for one of my rare pairs, Ennoshita/Tanaka. My favorite of those remains Learning Us by glitch_writes
